About the Project

Street View

In late 2022, the Rumson Baseball board brainstormed ideas on how to give back to the community's youth sports. From there, the idea arose to leverage underutilized spaces within our town. One such space is the Carton Street Municipal Storage Shed.

After the as-built plans were completed in March 2024, contractors and vendors were provided with the drawings and asked to provide budgetary estimates. These estimates will be used when seeking approval and funding.

Current State of the Building

Inside View

The Carton Street Municipal Storage Building is a 67’4”x31’4”x14’ facility with a versatile layout. Currently in fair condition and offers great potential for repurposing as an indoor multipurpose building for Rumson Community and youth sports.

Current Use of the Building

The Carton Street Municipal Storage Building is currently underutilized. It houses equipment, uniforms, sports equipment, and miscellaneous items. These items can be stored in a more appropriate and consolidated space.

Potential Uses for the Community and Youth Athletics

The proposed activities include team training for basketball, volleyball, soccer, track, rowing, lacrosse, baseball, golf, and football - along with fitness and wellness programs for Rumson’s residents. Over 1,200 kids each year would be able to utilize this space!Concept Drawing
